Saturday Musical Theatre

If your child is star struck then he/she will love our Saturday Musical theatre class. Kids
are divided into age, ability and friendship groups and within each session they cover lots of
different dance styles with a little song and drama to spice up the performance!

Street jazz, modern jazz and tap are the basic styles taught. The high light of working towards
optional exams and the end of year show case boosts self confidence!

This course is great for those that want to dance for a long session on Saturdays, for boys and
girls age 4 + and for those that are committed for the year.

Drama Craze

On Saturdays we hold a class for those that are interested in drama only and don’t want to
dance or sing. It’s a new thing for us to separate the drama from our musical theatre course
but we recognise that some children are just totally focused on acting and this is what their
passion is. It’s a class for fun and a new venture so depending on sign up and interest we will
see if we will take it a step forward and have the class perform their own show in the theatre!

At the beginning of each class, we'll be doing warm up games (to release tension, and to get
confidence. This is very important when performing! We'll be doing some improvisations
to learn how to move on stage, how to talk, and what they look at when you act, etc. Also
breathing and speech exercises will be given while they're doing their improvisations.
Scenes from a play will be introduced to learn to concentrate on breathing, speech,
movements, and feelings. By the end of the course we will put on a show!

It’s a new course please take advantage of our special offer: 50 % off the first terms fees

Song Craze

As above we have realised a need to separate some of the subjects so children can learn to
sing as a separate unit. This can also be combined with the drama course for those that like
drama and singing but not dancing.

Tiny tots ballet

This class is great for that first experience! I promise you it will be a good one with child
friendly teachers who teach the class through imagery and story telling. Wands, crowns,
sparkly stars enhance the magic that ballet can bring.

The class is ideal for 2 – 4 yr olds and included in your fees are 2 free adult tickets (under 5’s
free) to see DCA perform their end of year show.

Arts and Crafts

children in an International nursery. They feel so good when they can take something home
and they did it themselves!

Older ones who would love to learn to draw and how to do arts and crafts with an end result
to be really proud of can learn all the skills needed to make props, scenery and design work
for tickets, the programme and posters for the end of year show.

It’s an important part of the whole team process of putting on a successful show and students
will be acknowledged for their work in the show programme/prospectus.

It’s a year long process with a really good feel of satisfaction at the end!

Please check our calendar as there is no art sessions on school holidays and long weekends
etc.

Circus Skills

With barrels of fun for all ages and all stages it’s a great way to try juggling, plate spinning,
diablolo, hula hoops, tightwire, poi, and more. For t he very youngest its all game related.
Any one can have a go!

It’s become evident that circus skills give people a wonderful boost of self esteem; it can
improve fitness, while being fun and help with poor attention.

These are one off workshops held on Saturdays so check out our calendar

Ballet

Less and less children are passionate about ballet, but for those that still love this discipline
we hold a class on Saturdays for general levels: A wonderful way to learn technique and
improve posture and grace whilst having fun.

Action tots

A toddler dance class with all time favourite children’s songs with some catchy numbers you
may never have heard of! Dress up and props make these classes a lot of fu. Come and watch
your tot shake a leg! As soon as your tot can walk then bring him/her along to give it a try!

Street Jazz

So your child knows all the latest dance hits and pop star dance routines? From age 5yrs up
you can come and learn cool dance routines to your favourite songs. Fast moving and fun!
Join the group according to your age and ability. Boys love this class too!

Private Tuition

Are you really serious and would like to improve your technique, would like a class with just
you and a few friends or would you like to have a dance created just for you? There are many
reasons why private tuition could be a good option for you and can be held at our studio or at
your home.

Adult classes

It’s never too late to start dancing. Any age can benefit why not give it ago? Its fun keeps
you fit and healthy and can help you tone up.

ROSETTES, STAR DANCE AWARDS AND MEDALS FOR HOBBY LEVEL DANCERS

FULL GRADED EXAMS AND STUDENT TEACHER EXAMS FOR THE MORE
SERIOUS

The examination is an international award from the International Dance Teachers association
the biggest of its kind in the world (www.idta.co.uk). The examiner will fly from the UK to
spend the day examining our pupils, it is an official examination.

These exams are optional. They give children confidence, a sense of achievement, something
to work towards, and it shows which level the child is at. For the graded examinations a child
may go onto professional education in the performance arts sector. Children love collecting
their awards and showing the examiner what they have learned!

Age 4 – 7 yrs can collect Rosette; ages 8 – 10 yrs star dance awards and age 11 yrs + medals

6 to collect at each level in ballet, modern/jazz, gym dance, national, tap and theatre craft.
For medals it is much more difficult and intense and students choose a couple of styles and
work up from bronze – gold.

Children can enter for a maximum of three exams in one examination session

(6 000 Ft per exam and 2 000 Ft for star board or rosette banner or plaque)

For graded exams a lot more commitment is needed as the child must perform a serious of
exercises and dancers in front of the examiner. More then one lesson a week may be required
and additional private class. These exams cost 10 000 Ft each.

Exam session Date:

Sign-up and Payment due:

All children must be in uniform for exam sessions and to arrive to class with their hair in a
very neat pony tail

Dance wear

Some items are compulsory and we do all we can to keep costs down.

Tap shoes

Tap shoes are 8000 Ft to buy, but here at DCA we have started up a ‘rental’ option. You pay
2000 Ft for the year to cover our costs in ordering new stock, replacing, cleaning and admin
etc. If your feet grow mid year, you just swap them for another pair!

6000 Ft deposit is required and will be returned to you when you return our shoes at the end
of the year!

Ballet shoes

We will be fitting ballet shoes on September 3rd and ordering that day, we are no longer going
to keep them in stock because I end up with too many in one size and not enough in another
and it all goes pair shape. We will check your child’s current ballet shoes and replace them.
The cost is 5000 Ft. If you choose to order after September 3rd then you will be charged
postage on top of the shoes.

Dance dress

One of the rules set by IDTA is that all children should be in exam uniform. Many schools
insist that children should wear a different style for each subject. This is really nice but can
get pricy for parents so while I can get away with one uniform for all exams I will!

As a registered IDTA school I can choose the design. I have always had the pink lycra as its
practical and lasts but in current years children have been wishing to come in their own gear,
and class has become a place to be fashionable.

I will see if I can come up with a more cute design and get back to you al.

Dance leotard and trousers

Dance trousers 8000 Ft and leotards 5000 Ft. We will offer a 25 % discount and free fitting
and altering service on September 3rd

Some children need alterations from their dance trousers from last year we will also do that so
don’t forget to bring them along!

Second hand sales

Unfortunately DCA are unable to take the responsibility of being middle person and
organising second hand sales. We tried it once before and we ended up with a lot of
uncomfortable problems and conflicts. However I have the great idea that if anyone wants to
this then post your unwanted items up on our face book page and then you can organise these
sales between yourselves and there’s no middle person involved. I hope that will be good for
you and for me!
